Usability is how easy an object is to use. The object can be anything from a pencil to a space shuttle. Software design over the past couple of years has evolved into being more intuitive and user friendly. Software designers focus more on human factors such as human memory limitations and the ability to understand a user’s needs. In this Innovation Session, Nilaksha Rathnayake from the UI team elaborates on the Ten Usability Heuristics for user interface design, which are considered to be the broad rules of thumb for building an effective and efficient user interaction medium. The session also looks into Heuristic Evaluation which helps locate usability problems of a UI design.
