Building Web Applications in NodeJS

Pasindu Perera who specializes in JavaScript spoke about building web applications in NodeJS for this week’s Innovation Session. He stated that NodeJS is a developers’ tool for working in the non-blocking, event-driven I/O paradigm which concentrates in real-time web applications employing push technology over websockets.

He went on to explain to us about the project scaffolding tool ‘Yo’, writing a user’s build configuration (Gruntfile, Gulpfile) and about pulling in relevant packages and managing dependencies (Bower, npm) that a user might need for his build. He concluded the presentation by discussing ways to implement a Node API and how to run unit and integration tests.
