THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently on the lookout for a Operations Engineer – Data Platforms to join our team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor & Maintain: Overseeing data pipelines and cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability and reliability
Proactive Issue Detection: Implementing monitoring and logging solutions to detect and minimize ETL failures and service disruptions
Reactive Support & Troubleshooting: Providing production support, validating data integrity and resolving technical issues within SLA commitments
Collaboration & Incident Management: Working closely with data engineering and incident response teams for seamless issue resolution
Incident Analysis & Proactive Problem Management: Performing post-mortem analysis, documenting troubleshooting best practices and improving knowledge-sharing processes
Automation & Scripting: Developing and maintaining Python and Shell scripts to automate operational tasks and reduce manual workloads
Cloud Optimization & Scaling: Optimizing and scaling cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for improved efficiency and reliability
Working on a 24/7 support roster, ensuring continuous availability for business-critical operations
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Data Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
1–2 years of experience in platform support, preferably in a Data Centric environment
Strong proficiency in SQL, Shell scripting, and Python
Hands-on experience with ELT/ETL processes, Apache Airflow, Informatica and Spark is a plus
Experience with cloud-based data technologies, including AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR, DynamoDB), Snowflake and Kubernetes
Knowledge of DevOps & DataOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and Monitoring & observability tools (Datadog)
Experience in network infrastructure and system administration on Windows Server and UNIX/Linux environments
A strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a passion for optimizing and automating workflows
Excellent communication skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
