Sysco LABS’ software engineering team is at the forefront of technology innovation in enterprise and customer-facing applications. The size and complexity of our product suite requires us to evaluate and utilize many of the latest tools, technologies and standards in the industry. 
We choose technologies that are a fit for our solutions, are supported by the community, and secure and scalable enough for enterprise. We also use a wide range of cloud computing solutions from AWS, Azure and GCP, and build cloud-native solutions to cater to the high scale, reliability, and resilience of enterprise solutions. These include elastic computing solutions using containerizations, high performance open-source databases in the cloud, cloud-based DevSecOps tools etc.

The security of digital solutions is of paramount importance to Sysco, and we treat security as an umbrella activity that spans from requirements to production and beyond. Our engineers stay up-to-date on cyber security practices, secure coding practices, implementation and maintenance of secure infrastructure and runtimes.

## RESPONSIBILITIES

## REQUIREMENTS 
 
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 4+ years of experience developing production grade enterprise applications 
- Extensive experience with the Java/Spring-Boot stack, along with hands-on knowledge on RESTful APIs, microservices, performance optimizations, enterprise integration principles and modern deployment strategies (containerization principles) 
- An in-depth understanding of relational databases, schema design and SQL optimization; knowledge of NoSQL databases would be an added advantage 
- Familiarity with Linux based systems, DevOps practices and prior experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred). 
- Familiarity with data streaming concepts and related toolsets (Kafka) 
- Excellent communication skills 
- The ability to work well with a team and lead/groom junior members as required (in an informal capacity) 
- A decent knowledge of front-end development (React/Redux stack) will be advantageous, in addition to an openness to learning front end skills quickly and contributing towards the team’s cause 
- Familiarity with working in a Scrum Agile delivery environment 
- Familiarity with Quality Engineering processes and practices

- Extensive experience in NodeJS, python programming languages and React, Angular frontend frameworks 
- Extensive knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservices, serverless architecture, performance optimizations, enterprise integration principles and modern deployment strategies (containerization principles) 
- In-depth understanding of relational databases, schema design and SQL optimization Knowledge on NoSQL databases would be an added advantage

Extensive experience with Java/Spring-Boot stack, along with hands-on knowledge on RESTful APIs, microservices, performance optimizations, and enterprise integration principles 

Extensive experience with modern deployment strategies and container technologies (Docker and Kubernetes) 

An in-depth understanding of relational databases, schema design and SQL optimization 

Knowledge of NoSQL databases would be an added advantage 

Familiarity with data streaming concepts and related frameworks (Kafka, Apache Beam, Flink) would be an added advantage 

Experience in architecting, designing, and implementing highly available, scalable web applications 

Familiarity with a variety of software patterns and principles 

Experience with DevOps practices and working with Cloud IaaS or PaaS providers such as AWS (preferred) or Azure

Proficiency in designing and implementing microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems

## RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms

Working alongside other members of the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices

## REQUIREMENTS

Experience in Python and Java/Spring Boot ecosystem with a good understanding of asynchronous/synchronous programming

At Sysco LABS, we take a holistic approach to quality engineering. Not limited to merely testing our products at the end of the development lifecycle, our quality engineers engage in all stages of the development process and are an integral part of our engineering teams rather than an outside entity.
 
 
Just like our products, our quality process is under continuous improvement. QE involvement in the development process begins at its inception - we perform a detailed analysis and elaboration of the feature requirements outlined by business analysts. In this sense, our quality engineers are domain experts to an extent.
 
 
Quality engineers are the driving force of software quality in our engineering teams. They often discuss the detailed requirements with developers in feature walkthrough meetings to ensure everyone is on the same page, and that the product and test suite arise from the same requirement source. This minimizes the likelihood of test-product mismatches, an all too common problem in the software industry.

While tests are considered common assets (the entire team has access to them and are expected to utilize them in their work), it is the QEs who develop and maintain the test suites. Despite the size and complexity of our product suite, 70-90% of our testing is automated. This eliminates much of the day-to-day drudgery of the traditional quality engineer, freeing their minds to focus on product quality in a more intelligent manner.

## THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently on the lookout for an Architect - Quality Engineering to join our team.  

## RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing technical quality engineering leadership and expertise to multiple engineering teams 

Playing a key role in evangelizing a full-stack quality engineering philosophy within the organization, uplifting standards in test automation, performance engineering, security testing and overall testing processes 

Taking responsibility for the selection of test strategy for projects and providing guidance and recommendations to teams on achieving the optimum testability (Test Automation, Performance Engineering & Security Testing) 

Providing technical QE direction to Quality Engineers in adherence to coding, quality, functionality, performance, scalability and on-time delivery standards 

Supporting QE teams in test estimations, planning, test design, reporting and matrices in order to achieve quality in deliveries 

On a regular basis, reviewing test scenarios and automated test scripts and providing guidance for continuous improvement 

Staying up to date with emerging trends in quality engineering, while supporting the organization in evaluating suitable strategies and steering feasibility study initiatives 

Training and mentoring Quality Engineers to uplift standards and bring testing productivity into test strategies 

Driving tool selection and overseeing the development of test infrastructure across projects 

Working collaboratively with Engineering, Product, Project Management, and UI/UX teams to review on requirements, architecture and designs to ensure comprehensive testability can be achieved 

Mentoring, coaching and leading a team of Quality Engineers.

## REQUIREMENTS 
 
A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification and 9+ years of industry experience 

At least 2 years of experience in playing a similar role and having experience in handling multiple projects, clients in diversified technology spectrums 

Strong knowledge in quality engineering practices and processes    

Expert knowledge of agile software testing practices, test design techniques and test reporting  

Experience working in an Agile and DevOps environment and strong knowledge in software engineering concepts 

Experience in solving software test automation challenges in a pragmatic approach 

Experience in building web and mobile test automation frameworks using open source tools such as Selenium and Appium 

Experience in testing middle-tier and service oriented architectures using tools such as Rest-Assured or SoapUI 

Strong knowledge of Java, OOP concepts, coding standards and improving code quality 

Expertise in backend or API performance testing 

Expertise in performance testing tools such as JMeter 

Experience in testing large scale enterprise services, or performance/scale/stress tests 

Experience in working with continuous integration/delivery, build and source control tools such as Jenkins, Maven and GIT 

Excellent communication, presentation, leadership and negotiation skills 

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 

Professional certifications such as ISTQB, PMI-ACP or CSM (Certified Scrum Master) would be an added advantage

Technology Operations forms the operational backbone of Sysco IT services and infrastructure. These teams work on multiple disciplines including Incident, Problem and Change Management, Enterprise Monitoring, Site Reliability Engineering and Operations Engineering that primarily looks after technical support. In our brand-new Technology Operations Command Center, teams operate on a 24x7 basis supporting multiple geographies and ensuring Sysco’s global operations continue running smoothly and reliably.

## THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for Operations Engineers to join the Technical Operations team at Sysco LABS. The right candidate will primarily provide comprehensive technical support services for various systems and platforms used by Sysco Corporation across the United States, Canada & Europe.

## RESPONSIBILITIES

- Providing reactive support through troubleshooting of technical issues, unblocking users and detecting root cause(s) based on SLAs 
- Identifying and resolving complex application, network, platform and cloud-based connectivity issues 
- Ensuring that systems are fully operational, and any loss of service is restored within SLAs 
- Engaging and coordinating with end-users, other stakeholders such as engineering and 3rd parties during the issue resolution process 
- Supporting upgrades and new deployments of the applications 
- Monitoring and proactively managing application issues 
- Working on a roster covering 24/7 support to our end users   
 
## REQUIREMENTS 
 
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent 
- 1–2 years of experience in technical support/systems administration will be a key advantage 
- Excellent command of written and spoken English 
- Knowledge and experience of the Windows server/UNIX platforms 
- Sound network troubleshooting knowledge including LAN/WAN, DHCP, TCP/IP, Firewalls, and Routing 
- Knowledge of SQL; the ability to write and execute queries and understand database 
- Knowledge of Shell or Python scripting will be an added advantage 
- Oracle DBMS and PL SQL knowledge will be an added advantage

## THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently on the lookout for a competent, self-motivated Engineer – Cloud Services for our Cloud Services team with a deep understanding of Windows Systems, Microsoft Azure, AWS and GCP to collaborate, lead change, automate and inspire teams towards delivery excellence at Sysco LABS.

## RESPONSIBILITIES

Driving the infrastructure provisioning, deployment, architecture reviews and monitoring tools that will support, enhance and grow an advanced infrastructure support model for Sysco’s multi-cloud environments 

Working with product engineering teams to design, develop, operate, and maintain secure, auto-scalable, highly available Windows-based cloud environments with the lowest total cost of ownership 

Act as SME for Windows and Azure and GCP-based workloads, providing solutions to problems, handling migrations, and troubleshooting any issues in a timely manner 

Patch management and coordinating patch schedules with other teams such as Security, Change Management, Incident Management and Dev teams 

Working with tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible and Kubernetes for cloud operation work on Azure, AWS and GCP 

Improving our knowledgebase and engineering standards through documentation 

Ensuring the security of all Sysco LABS’ infrastructure, data, applications, and configurations 

Automation and scripting via PowerShell, Python, Bash, Cloud Formation or Terraform 

Systems Alert Monitoring and proactively managing systems and application issues 

Working on a roster covering 24x7 support to our end users 

Providing remote support to users 

Managing hardware/software vendor relationships and contract negotiations 

Maintaining and adhering to cybersecurity policy, and ensuring client agents for discovery tools, security, and patch compliance agents are maintained at the most current versions 

Training and assisting end users to effectively utilize the enterprise ITSM tool; coordinating new hire onboarding and setup, including providing desktops, laptops, monitors, and other IT needs of employees

## REQUIREMENTS 
 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent 

Certifications in Microsoft Azure, hands-on experience architecting and deploying Microsoft Azure environments, including hybrid scenarios, optimizing cost/capacity ratios, proper monitoring, scaling, implementing, and validating database & DR scenarios, and Azure security 

The ability to learn and work in a multi-cloud environment with a continuous learning attitude to support applications on various cloud platforms 

Certifications in Windows Systems and 1 to 2 years of proven experience as a Windows administrator

## THE OPPORTUNITY

The Infrastructure Operations Team is a globally distributed group responsible for managing Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure and supporting Windows and Linux workloads across North American datacenters and edge locations. Operating 24/7 with members in Sri Lanka and Costa Rica, the team ensures high availability, scalability, and performance of enterprise systems in Sysco’s Private Cloud. Key responsibilities include managing virtualization platforms, optimizing Linux and Windows servers, and maintaining global security compliance through patch management.  

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer/ Engineer – Infrastructure (Windows) to join our Infrastructure Operations team which is a full-time position with 24/7 rotational shifts. The role involves supporting, optimizing, and securing Windows systems, contributing to global OS patch management efforts, managing and supporting the Nutanix virtualization platform, and collaborating with a globally distributed team in a 24x7 operational environment. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Windows system administration, a good understanding of virtualization technologies such as Nutanix or VMware, and experience with automation and patch management processes.   

## RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing, monitoring, and maintaining Windows workloads running on virtualized infrastructure; troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to Windows systems and applications, and optimizing system performance, resource utilization, and scalability 

Overseeing Windows deployments on Private Cloud virtualization platforms; collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between infrastructure and business needs, and assisting in capacity planning, backups, and disaster recovery strategies 

Implementing and managing global patching for Windows servers to address security vulnerabilities and system stability; ensuring compliance with corporate security policies and industry best practices, and conducting risk assessments and apply mitigations for security threats 

Supporting the migrations of end-of-life Windows OS versions to newer versions of Windows operating systems and reducing the EOL footprint 

Developing and maintaining automation scripts for routine tasks using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools; integrating and improving patching automation workflows 

Supporting and managing the Nutanix virtualization platform, including new cluster deployments, troubleshooting alerts, and optimization of the infrastructure 

Working closely with team members in Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, and North America to provide seamless 24x7 support; participating in on-call rotations and responding to high-priority incidents
 
## REQUIREMENTS 
 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 2 - 4 years in Windows system administration 

Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy 

Hands-on experience with hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) like Nutanix and virtualization technologies (Nutanix, VMware, Hyper-V) 

Proficiency in patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, SCCM) and vulnerability management processes 

Strong knowledge of Windows OS roles/features (IIS, Print & File Services, Remote Desktop, etc.), TCP/IP, firewalls, and high availability systems (e.g., failover clusters) 

Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Perl) and technical documentation of infrastructure processes 

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment 

Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural team setting 

Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management
