THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineer – AS400 to join our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms

Collaborating cross-functionally with other software engineers and developers, business users, product owners and customers to achieve solutions that meet business expectations

Working alongside other members of the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices

Adhering to architecture standards and development best practices like Test-Driven development, code reviews, static code analysis and secure coding

Writing technical user stories and ensuring that non-functional requirements are met to ensure performance, scaling, resilience and maintainability of software/solutions

Actively resolving defects and managing technical debt

Developing and executing unit tests to ensure business/customer requirements are delivered

Participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives to enable progress, and surface and resolve impediments

Collaborating with the team to support end-to-end including design, development, QA, deployment and production support

Providing recommendations for continuous improvement

Testing software development methodology in an agile environment A minimum 5 years’ IT experience in an AS400, RPG environment

REQUIREMENTS

A minimum 5 years’ IT experience in an AS400, RPG environment

A College Degree or equivalent years of IT experience

Experience using: AS400/IBM i – RPG, CL, DB2, ILE and SQL

Experience developing user interfaces using DDS screens

Experience programming using subfiles

Experience debugging programs

Experience with version control systems for the appropriate technology stack

Experience developing in an agile environment as part of a scrum team

Experience with test driven development (TDD)

Experience using Jira an asset

Experience using Service Now an asset

Experience in a Distribution environment is preferred

The ability to work in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment

Extremely detail-oriented, fast learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks

Proficient troubleshooting abilities

Proficient communication skills
