THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer - Android to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge mobile applications for warehouse operations. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and efficient Android applications that optimize warehouse workflows and enhance productivity.Designing and building mobile applications for Warehouse Domain using Android
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
Working with external integrations with third-party APIs
Developing Unit, UI, Integration, and component test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
Working on bug fixing and improving application performance
Continuously discovering, evaluating, and implementing new technologies to maximize development efficiency
Ensuring the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
Providing support for production rollouts, deployments, and incidents
RESPONSIBILITIES
The design and development of enterprise solutions for one of the world’s largest corporations involved in the marketing and distribution of food products
Implementing distributed and highly robust enterprise applications that scale for enterprise demands
Architecting and implementing scalable software solutions and document design decisions
Carrying out detailed technical designing of software solutions
Scoping and breaking down user stories into clear and achievable technical tasks
The implementation of the technical design including coding, calling existing services, creating new components, etc.
Ensuring a high standard of engineering quality through code reviews, unit tests, and analytics
Ensuring engineering principles and related processes are adhered to
Providing constructive feedback to team members via code reviews and architectural reviews
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
A minimum of 2 - 4 years’ experience in hands-on Android app development
The ability to write clean, well-structured, and maintainable code
Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming languages
In-depth knowledge of Android SDK, NDK, and Android Studio
Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
Experience with third-party libraries and APIs especially RxJava or similar technologies
A solid understanding of the full mobile development lifecycle
Experience with automation frameworks such and Appium, REST Assured and Roboelectric
Knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
A proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
Possessing the following will be advantageous:
- Experience with mobile app development for warehouse or supply chain industry & experience working with Rugged Devices
- Experience with barcode scanning and RFID technologies
- Experience with real-time data synchronization
- Experience with performance optimization and testing
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Experience in API development using Java or Javascript is an added advantage
- Familiarity with continuous integration with Jenkins
